Recommendations and Measures from the Institute of Public Health

We are sharing with you the Recommendations and Measures from the Institute of Public Health related to the current situation with waste in Skopje.

Maintain personal hygiene (use gloves, wear a mask, wash hands, use hand disinfectant after disposing of waste).

Responsible disposal of waste (in containers, bulky waste in an appropriate manner/designated places and not in containers, etc.).

Careful handling, sorting, collecting, and disposing of waste.

Closing bin lids when disposing of waste.

Avoid physical unprotected contact with waste.

Avoid stagnant water and waste runoff.

Be cautious when taking pets out to avoid contact with waste and its runoff.

Do not dispose of waste outside designated collection areas.

Do not dispose of waste at illegal landfills.

Emergency washing, disinfection, and pest control of areas with scattered waste and containers.

Report an infectious disease to the university authorities or a contact with infected person: reporting with epidemiological investigation (focus on diarrhea, leptospirosis cases, hospitalized patients with zoonoses, etc.)
